Details are starting to trickle out about the reconstruction of Hayward Field.  But the question for us is, will there be any masters races there in 2017?

Initial indications were that the entire U of O regular season would be cancelled in 2017, and the Hayward Classic would also skip at least a year.  That would also eliminate the masters exhibition races normally held at the Pepsi Invitational and Oregon Twilight, as well as the Masters Track Series Championship.  Presumably, the OTC All-Comers meets would continue to happen, but likely at an alternate venue such as South Eugene High School.

The entire construction project at Hayward Field will take two years, but there was already a plan to do this in two stages, with a pause after reconstruction of the east side of the track to allow the 2017 OSAA Meet, Pre Classic, and NCAA championships to be staged.  Now the Pac-12 meet is moving from OSU to UO, with OSU still officially the host but the meet will be staged at Hayward Field May 13-14.

With the Oregon Twilight normally scheduled for just a week before the Pac-12 championships, would the track be ready to go a week early to run that meet as well?  Vin Lannana has stated that is "Still to be determined."

The Hayward Classic committee is also looking into the possibility that meet can also still be worked into the Hayward Field schedule somewhere in 2017.
