NOTE: These races are full and there is a waiting list in case spaces open up. We are not taking any additional entries, but people already on the alternate list might be able to run if other runners cancel.

Masters runners age 40 and up (runners over age 80 have competed in the past!) are invited to race in masters only events at the Oregon Twilight Meet.  This is an excellent chance to race in front of a crowd at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.  The masters only races typically occur near the beginning of these meets, which also feature top college and elite competitors in other events.

The Pepsi Invitational is NOT taking place in 2017.  The masters mile has been moved to the Oregon Twilight meet, and we have changed to a 200m for the shorter race this year.

NOTE THAT THE OREGON TWILIGHT MEET IS NOT THE SAME AS THE HAYWARD CLASSIC!  The Hayward Classic is a masters only track meet, which has a full set of masters track and field events.  See www.HaywardClassic.org for information.

Oregon Twilight - Friday, May 5th, 2017

Masters Mile - Tentative start time 3:00 PM (UPDATED)

Masters 200m - Tentative start time 4:10 PM (UPDATED)

RACE TIMES - The final start times of each race will not be finalized until the final few days before the meet.  The masters races will be moved around as necessary based on the number of college and elite meet entries and the TV broadcast schedule.  Updates will be emailed to entered athletes and posted here.

QUALIFYING TIMES AND HEATS - There are no specific qualifying times, although the tight meet schedule may force us to impose time limits on the mile.  For record attempts in older age groups, we will attempt to accommodate those as much as possible.  In the 200m the qualifying times are simply used to determine which heat runners will compete in.  There will be a maximum of 2 heats of the 200m, with heats set based on a combination of age and time to provide the best competitive situation.  Men and women may run in the same race.  For the mile race, there will be a single race of each with everyone (men and women) racing together.

ENTRY - There is no charge to enter these events, but you must pre-enter.  There are a limited number of spaces available, and they will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis until the races are full.  The 200m races will be limited to a maximum 16 entries (2 heats).  Even if space is still available, entries will close one week before each event.  In addition to there being no entry fee, competing athletes will be admitted free of charge to the meet.  However all spectators will need to buy a ticket.

QUESTIONS - If you have any questions, feel free to contact Craig Godwin at (541) 359-4176 or email at [email protected].
